Manufacturing Job Increase

Macomb County saw the largest manufacturing employment increase in the United States from 2016 to 2018. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Macomb County added 9,118 manufacturing jobs from the fourth quarter of 2016 to the second quarter of 2018. This increase follows President Trump’s promise to “Buy American.” After President Trump signed an executive order favoring American-made products, manufacturing in Macomb County has seen a steady increase. Within the two years, jobs in Macomb County went from 65,137 to 74,255, making it the largest growth in the country.

Green Macomb and the Blue Water Conservation District started their tree and plant sale again this year. Starting February 1st and ending April 4th, individuals can browse online for fruit trees, oaks, maples, lilacs, redwoods, dogwoods, and strawberry, raspberry, asparagus, horseradish, and rhubarb plants. Since the annual sale began two years ago, over 40,000 trees and plants have been purchased by residents in Macomb County. They also offer guidance on how to raise a tree and plants.
