Dear neighbor,

Join me this Saturday, April 3, at the state Capitol for two very important rallies!

First, at 9 a.m. I’ll be speaking at the “Rally to Save our Seniors,” followed by the “Love and Unity Rally” to stop Asian hate from 2 to 4 p.m.

I hope you’ll consider joining me to raise awareness on two very important issues facing our state today: pushing back against Asian discrimination, and standing up for our most vulnerable seniors. I hope to see you there!

Read below for more information on each. And as always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office if there is anything my staff or I can do to help.

Working with you and for you,

Runestad to take part in “Rally to Save our Seniors”

I hope you’ll join me and others concerned about the health and safety of our seniors for the “Rally to Save our Seniors” being held in Lansing this Saturday, April 3, at 9 a.m. to protest Michigan’s nursing home policies.

Our seniors in nursing homes have suffered enough over the past year. From being isolated, kept away from their families, and even put in harm’s way, the elderly have been let down again and again. It’s time we stand up for seniors and their families.

The inconsistent nursing home policies we’ve seen have isolated seniors from their families while still putting them in harm’s way. Seniors deserve much better treatment than what they have received so far, and we need to support them.

Saturday’s rally will take place on the east lawn of the Michigan Capitol, 100 N. Capitol Ave., Lansing. I hope you’ll join me for this outdoor event on Saturday.

Runestad to speak at Asian support rally

The “Love and Unity Rally” to stop Asian discrimination is being held in Lansing this Saturday, April 3, from 2 to 4 p.m.

We are all Americans — regardless of our ancestry. Asian Americans deserve to be treated just like any other group of Americans. It is important to show support for those in our community and to come together to celebrate all that binds us together.

Asian discrimination even exceeds acts of violence. It is being pushed into our higher education and hiring processes. As a country, we can do better. Together we can create stronger, more united communities and make a real difference for families in our own neighborhoods.

The Love and Unity Rally is scheduled to take place on the east lawn of the Michigan Capitol, 100 N. Capitol Ave., Lansing. Other elected officials slated to speak include Sen. Michael MacDonald, R-Macomb Township. The event is being hosted by the Michigan Conservative Chinese Americans group, whose goal is to bridge the divides in our country in light of recent violence perpetrated against those in the Asian community.
