Dear Neighbors,

Welcome to this month’s edition of my e-newsletter. I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to tackle the tough issues that will help lower the cost of living, help families get ahead, and build a brighter future for all who call Michigan home.

As always, I welcome your feedback on current issues facing Michigan or the Greater Rochester Area, Troy, Sterling Heights, and Utica communities. Constituent feedback is vital as I represent our communities in Lansing. If you are experiencing a problem with one of our state government agencies, my office is always available to assist with finding a solution. I respect your opinion and will always do my best to make myself available and accessible to you.

Please take a moment to visit my website, like my official Facebook page, send me an email or call my office at 517-373-0994. If you have any questions, concerns, or opinions on what is happening, please do not hesitate to contact me. I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Sincerely,

Sen. Webber introduces bill to streamline autism diagnoses

As co-chair of the Autism Advocates Caucus, I introduced a bipartisan bill package with Sen. Sam Singh, D-East Lansing, that would streamline how individuals care for children with autism in Michigan. Currently, Michigan law allows master’s level mental health professionals to diagnose children with autism without supervision from a licensed psychologist. This has led to children being misdiagnosed and causing unnecessary pain to patients and families.

Senate Bills 625 and 626 would no longer allow master’s level health professionals, without supervision from a licensed psychologist, to diagnose autism in Michigan.

The bill package has been referred to the Senate Committee on Health Policy, which I serve on as the minority vice chair.

Sen. Webber: Michigan’s energy future can still be merry and bright

All the festive holiday lights may seem like a simple joy, but thanks to Michigan’s new energy mandates, they may soon become just a memory of Christmas past.

What happens when the lights don’t come on when we flip the switch? Are darker days heading for Michigan?

I don’t mean to be a Grinch, but I am here to share the dark truth about the unaffordable and unreliable energy reforms that were recently signed into law by the Democrat-controlled Legislature. Click on the image below to watch the video.

Sen. Webber speaks at annual Troy Telugu Association

I am proud and honored to represent diverse communities in the Michigan Senate. I spoke to members of the Troy Telugu Association on my recently adopted Diwali Resolution, the importance of religious liberties, and what I am doing in the Michigan Senate. This was a great event, and I appreciate the generosity of the Indian American community in Troy.

Sen. Webber walks in Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade

I participated in the 2023 Rochester Area Hometown Christmas Parade with my wife Julia and son James. It was great seeing so many residents brave the rain and cold to see our marching bands and community groups walk down Rochester Road.

Held annually on the first Sunday in December, the parade is organized by the Rochester Regional Chamber Foundation. The Rochester Area Hometown Christmas Parade is the largest Christmas parade in Michigan and features over 100 entries marching down a one-and-a-half-mile route, according to the foundation.
